Objective
- The purpose of this policy is to ensure that any usage of the National Credit Regulator (NCR) Logo is approved and authorised according to the correct procedure.
The Policy
- The NCR shall, from time to time, approve in writing, the usage of its trademarks. This policy relates to the usage of the NCR logo, which is the sole and exclusive property of the NCR.
- This Policy is intended to provide a general understanding of correct logo usage. The requirements defined in this document apply to all stakeholders who may wish to use the NCR logo. They also apply to any individual or entity who may wish to use the NCR logo or, including but not limited to
- registered credit providers,
- registered credit bureaux,
- registered debt counsellors,
- government department and bodies,
- advertising agencies,
- consultants of entities registered with the NCR,
- professional writers and editors (special approval),
- and other third parties as may be approved by the NCR..
- This Policy will be modified from time to time as the NCR deems appropriate.
- The NCR will give permission for its logo usage under the following circumstances:
- Joint advertising ventures
- Communications material that complies with the provisions of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005;
- Marketing Material;
- Promotional material;
- Registered entity stationery as shall be approved by the NCR.
- The NCR may give permission for its logo usage for statutory publishing requirements;
- All users of the NCR logo must abide by the terms and conditions contained herein.
Procedure
- All stakeholders who qualify to use the NCR logo as per the policy above, are to complete an undertaking;
- The completed undertaking must be sent to the NCR Manager by:
- Fax
- Post
- Hand delivered
- The undertaking must be completed and signed by the responsible official who will be accountable for the usage of the NCR logo;
- The NCR will assess the submitted undertaking, to ensure that it meets the specifications of the policy above;
- The NCR reserves the right to reject the application for its logo usage;
- When the application is approved by the NCR Manager, the NCR Public Relations Officer will notify the applicant in writing;
- The requested logo format will be provided as follows:
- Sent via email;
- Loaded on a CD provided by the applicant for collection from the NCR’s physical address by applicant.
- The usage of the NCR logo will be limited to the time period approved by the NCR, as specified in the letter of notification. This may not exceed two (2) years.
- The applicant is required to provide the NCR with copy of the material before production indicating how the logo will be applied.
Terms and Conditions for Logo Usage
NCR Logo
The NCR logo is the sole and exclusive property of the National Credit Regulator (NCR). The logo may be used only by persons and entities in good standing and if and only if such use is made pursuant to approval by the NCR. Any failure by a user to comply with the terms and conditions contained herein may result in the immediate revocation of this license, in addition to any other sanctions imposed by NCR. The interpretation and enforcement (or lack thereof) of these terms and conditions, and compliance therewith, shall be made by NCR in its sole discretion.
Who can use the NCR logo?
Persons or entities in good standing in the following categories may use the logo registered
- credit providers,
- registered credit bureaux,
- registered debt counsellors,
- government department and bodies,
- advertising agencies,
- consultants of entities registered with the NCR,
- professional writers and editors (special approval),
- and other third parties as may be approved by the NCR.
How can the NCR logo be used?
The logo may be used in a professional manner on the user's business cards, stationery, literature, advertisements, or web site.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the logo may not be used in any of the following ways:
- on any product offered by registrants;
- in any manner that, in the sole discretion of discredits NCR or tarnishes the reputation and goodwill of the NCR;
- is false or misleading;
- violates the rights of others;
- violates any law, regulations, or other public policy;
- mischaracterizes the relationship between NCR and the user.
PMS Colors
The Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors are Warm cool grey 9 and 152C.
Rules for Using the Logo
Please observe all of the following rules when using the logo:
- Use only the approved digital artwork. Never re-typeset the logo.
- Never reproduce the logo in colors other than the approved PMS colors, cool Grey 9C and Orange 152C.
- Never outline the logo.
- Never distort the logo. Always scale it proportionately.
- Never place any graphic devices around the logo (such as a holding box) that could be interpreted as part of the logo.
- Never place the logo on a color background without sufficient contrast.
- Never place the positive version of the logo on a dark background.
- Never place the logo on a cluttered background. Make sure that the background ensures good legibility. The preferred background color for the full-color logo is white.
- Never reproduce the signature logo smaller than .12mm in width.
- Never allow any distracting graphic elements or type to clutter the "clear space" of the logo.
Compliance
Use of the logo shall create no rights for users in or to the logo or their use beyond the terms and conditions of this limited and revocable license. The logo shall remain at all times the sole and exclusive intellectual property of NCR. NCR shall have the right, from time to time, to request samples of use of the logo from which it may determine compliance with these terms and conditions. Without further notice, NCR reserves the right to prohibit use of the logo if it determines, in its sole discretion, that a user's logo usage, whether willful or negligent, is not in strict accordance with the terms and conditions of this license, otherwise could discredit NCR or tarnish its reputation and goodwill, or the user is not an NCR member in good standing.
